Thank You to all who volunteered and patronized the February book sale. We are still getting in the final numbers and will share them with you, but it looks like your hard work and generosity has raised at least $1500 for the Madison Public Library! Please give yourselves a big pat on the back!
We are already planning for the next sale — April 28-30 — please mark your calendars! We will need volunteers for set up on Wednesday late afternoon and evening (April 27), clerks during the sale, and help with clean up on Sunday, May 1.
Your hard work, donations and patronage is what makes the Friends’ support of the Library possible. Thank you and don’t forget, in between sales you can support the library through shopping — and volunteering — at the Friends Book Store on the first floor of the Central Library. See our side bar here for volunteering and check out our Facebook page for store hours: https://www.facebook.com/friendsofMPL/
The Board of the Friends of the Madison Public Library
The next sale is being held in conjunction with the Madison Public Library’s hosting and sponsorship of the Wisconsin Book Festival. Check back in September for more information on the materials that will be featured. In the meantime, check out our Book Store on the first floor of Madison’s Central Library, 201 W. Mifflin Street.
Revenue from FMPL book sales goes back to the library for books, materials, programs and services to benefit the entire Madison community. Come, shop, enhance your own collection and help the library at the same time.
Do you have Retail experience to share for a good cause? Do you have a flexible schedule? Can you work effectively with volunteers in a collaborative environment? If this sounds like you, the Friends of the Madison Public Library is looking for you!
The Friends Book Store Manager is a self-starter who can:
- manage the day-to-day operations of our Book Store and its volunteer staff
- effectively communicate with the Friends Board, Library staff and fellow volunteers
- post information and photos to social media sites
This is a great volunteer opportunity for you to serve your community. Please note this position may involve moving books and other merchandize and some evenings and weekends as necessary. To learn more and apply, please contact Carol Chapman at Friends_mpl@yahoo.com.
