Library Friends and Trustees Meet November 4

Your statewide Friends group – Wisconsin Library Trustees & Friends(WLTF ) – is sponsoring four workshops at the fall 2010 Wisconsin Library Association(WLA) conference at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells. Due to the efforts of WLTF board members, all four will be held on the same day – Thursday, November 4. Of particular interest to Friends is the workshop “Leaving the Comfort Zone: Advocacy by Friends of the Library Groups.” It will be a discussion on how to advocate for libraries in your communities during the tough economic times. Additionally, many of you will remember Erika Janik, author of Odd Wisconsin, who was our very entertaining speaker at the Friends 2009 Annual Meeting. Erika will also be giving at talk at WLA, right after the advocacy panel, entitled “A Short History of Wisconsin.” For more information on the conference, and how to attend, please contact Carol Chapman, FMPL representative to WLTF, at 279-4076 or visit the WLA.website: http://www.wla.lib.wi.us/conferences/2010/.
